We also call this “Filial Love” or “Love of Parents”. We must respect and love our parents or guardians.
We must believe in and respect our God or Supreme Being and also respect the rights of others to do the same.
We all need to be courteous to all we meet and in everything we do.
True friendship and loyalty are core teachings.
It is our duty to be trustworthy in all things. Our word is our bond.
We believe that it is essential to exercise cleanness personally and in what we say, think and do.
We also call this “Patriotism”. As citizens of Australia it is our duty to honour our country, its flag and public institutions.
We do not believe that discipline is the same as punishment.
In our world discipline can be summed up as “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”.
One of the critical things that we do is to provide positive male and female adult role models in a safe and secure environment.
The combination of this and our seven precepts, education, fun and formal activities helps prepare you to lead happy and productive lives. You will contribute positively to society in general and to your family and friends in particular.
You will establish high moral and ethical standards in both your private and public lives and will expect those around you to do the same.
You will find that friends made through DeMolay tend to be friends for life.
You can do as much or as little as you want. After all, it’s your organisation.
Naturally we encourage you to do as much as you can. Again, you only get out of it what you put into it.
Our education program is designed to give you skills useful to you both now and into adulthood.
Our Merit Bar Program (which is similar to Scout Award Badges) encourages self-education, with assistance where required, in several different areas:
Honours and Awards are available to youth members, senior DeMolays and adults.
Some are awarded for meritorious service to DeMolay Australia or to the community in general.
Others need to be applied for and worked towards through a structured and supervised process:
It is important that the members choose what they want to do. Naturally, adult leader and normal parental oversight and guidance are required. The list is only limited by your imagination.
